    PAST EVENT

Formerly Known As Haeckels | Seaweed Sauerkraut and Kimchi Workshop

With more microbial cells on and within us than our own body cells, it’s important to repopulate our gut microbiome with probiotics (live bacteria) to replace what we’re losing each day. This contributes to overall health, but as much as maintaining a healthy skin barrier is important, it also comes down to what you put inside your body that helps your skin’s appearance in the long term.

Fermented foods are growing in popularity as sources of probiotics today, but mostly use ancestral practices and recipes. One of these practices is fermenting cabbage into sauerkraut.

Attendees will need to bring their own jars - we recommend a 1.5L or larger swing top Kilner Jar, but any large glass jar with lid will do, and we will provide everything else to make the sauerkraut.

  • now what?

    PAST EVENT

    now what?

    10th september 6-8.30pm

That was the question in the minds of thousands of Scottish artists as they stared at the Creative Scotland Open Fund closure announcement. Over the last few weeks, artists have watched as the troubled relationship between Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government spilled out into the public sphere, with freelance artists becoming pawns in a political and economic game of chess. But why have we become so reliant on funding from public bodies and governmental sources? How have we gotten to this point? And, most importantly, where do we go from here?

Join arts fundraiser, academic, and creative, Micah Mackay, for an open discussion and thought sharing session on how we build a better future for the arts, how we promote collaboration over competition, and how we deconstruct funding systems which are designed to exclude rather than include. Attendees will be encouraged to share experiences, to contribute to discussion, and to work together to imagine and envision a new way for the arts.
